I’m Ashleé, and I’m a writer.

I discovered my first big story in sophomore English class. We had to write an article about a classmates. In a few minutes, the boy to my left revealed that he’d recently snuck his parents’ car out for a late-night, underaged joy ride. I’ve been hooked on storytelling ever since.

I’m the author of the book Louisville Diners, and my essays have appeared in the books The Golden Girls: Tales from the Lanai and The Louisville Anthology. My work has also appeared in publications including HuffPost, Salon and CNET.

I’ve spent my career in a variety of journalism and communications roles: a courts and cops reporter at a daily newspaper, a healthcare communications consultant, food blogger, oven review and event host. I’m currently the senior manager for community and learning at the American Journalism Project, an organization that supports nonprofit local news.
